The next meetings will be on September 16 and 21.  This Writing Club is for SCOL members and anyone interested in writing to share their short creative works (poetry, essays, short stories, inspirational pieces) with others in a friendly and supportive environment. Only positive suggestions shared.

A 20-30 minute meditation will be followed by 45 minutes of spirit messages. All guests can give messages, as in a Message Circle, under the guidance of Frank.If there is time at the end of each class, there will be a discussion on topics related to Spiritualism and Spirituality. Two In-Person SCOL Services a Month Now: Our church is having two hybrid services (services that are in-person at UUFSB and also live-streamed on Zoom) a month now. They are usually on the first and third Saturdays of the month, but this may not always be the case.  Our next Hybrid service will be on  September 7 and 21.   If anything changes concerning our in-person services, we will let you know.
At this point, we are not requiring you to wear a mask but you may certainly do so. (Health protocols may change due to changing NY state and UUFSB mandates.) The room for our services in the Religious Education wing has two portable air-purifying systems that will be used during the time we are there. 
We require a minimum of four people to attend (not counting the platform workers and helpers). Please let us know if you can commit to coming, and how often, to our hybrid services. Also, we are looking for more people to serve at our hybrid services.  If you have an interest in offering a Spiritual Address, offering a guided meditation, or being a greeter, please let us know in an email. Full (Super Blue) Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius
also called Corn or Barley Moon
This full moon is extra special because it's the first Supermoon of the year and also a seasonal Blue Moon.

In late August, we celebrate the beginning of the Corn Moon. This moon phase is also known as the Barley Moon, and carries on the associations of grain and rebirth that we saw a couple of weeks earlier, at Lammastide. This is a season of the beginning harvest. The Aquarius Full Moon will light up the August sky, peaking on the 19th. This is our last Full Moon before Eclipse Season begins, and we may feel the intensity rising. Eclipse Season is always a highly transformative time, and it seems like this Full Moon is planting the seeds of change. We may feel the unsettling energy flowing in, but it seems that the Universe is not ready for us to land just yet.
It can always be unsettling to be in a state of limbo or in the process of change, but one thing we can come back to under this Full Moon is the idea of flow. This is our time to flow with what is coming up for us, rather than trying to control.
This Full Moon really wants us to surrender, it really want us to just be present in whatever is showing up for us. Being in this almost passive state can be freeing, but can also activate a lot of fear. Many of us are not used to being in a state of flow. We often want to control; we want a solution or instant fix, and we want to be able to plan for what’s ahead. New!  SCOL has started up a Writers Club on Zoom which will meet on the third Monday of each month from 7 to 9 pm. The next meeting will be on August 19.  This Writing Club is for SCOL members and anyone interested in writing to share their short creative works (poetry, essays, short stories, inspirational pieces) with others in a friendly and supportive environment. Only positive suggestions shared.
We are asking for a lifetime membership fee of $25 and a class fee of $5.00. You can pay by check or on our church website:  https://www.summerlandchurchoflight.org/payments--donations.html#WritersClub

In-Person Mediumship Meetup directed by the  Rev. Frank Kotowski meets most often on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 7-9 PM at UUFSB in East Setauket.  The next classes will be on Tuesday August 20 and September 3. This class is open to everyone, but it would help if you had some experience in intuitive and mediumistic work.

"Meditation and Messages" occurs on the second Tuesday of the month, each month, from 7:00 to 8:15 pm. A 20-30 minute meditation will be followed by 45 minutes of spirit messages. All guests can give messages, as in a Message Circle, under the guidance of Frank.If there is time at the end of each class, there will be a discussion on topics related to Spiritualism and Spirituality. People of all faiths and philosophies are welcome.  The next classes will be on Tuesday, August 13 and September 10.

Two In-Person SCOL Services a Month Now: Our church is having two hybrid services (services that are in-person at UUFSB and also live-streamed on Zoom) a month now. They are usually on the first and third Saturdays of the month, but this may not always be the case.  Our next Hybrid service will be on  August 17 and September 7.   If anything changes concerning our in-person services, we will let you know.
At this point, we are not requiring you to wear a mask but you may certainly do so. (Health protocols may change due to changing NY state and UUFSB mandates.) The room for our services in the Religious Education wing has two portable air-purifying systems that will be used during the time we are there. 
We require a minimum of four people to attend (not counting the platform workers and helpers). Please let us know if you can commit to coming, and how often, to our hybrid services. Also, we are looking for more people to serve at our hybrid services.  If you have an interest in offering a Spiritual Address, offering a guided meditation, or being a greeter, please let us know in an email. Andrew Jackson Davis was born on August 11, 1826 in Blooming Grove (Orange County), NY. This town is a small hamlet along the Hudson River. As Seer and Clairvoyant of the 19th Century, he was be able to enter into a higher sphere of consciousness and access higher spiritual and physical knowledge.
Davis was the first person to diagnose and prescribe cures for individuals while himself in a trance state about 50 years before Edgar Cayce.  He also described in detail what happens to the soul at death, and explained spiritualism and other metaphysical phenomena. His scope of knowledge extended to education, health, psychology, philosophy, and government.

This retrograde gets extra interesting around August 14, when Mercury retrogrades back into fixed fire sign Leo. This could bring drama to a head, as Leo is never afraid of causing a scene. When it squares off with unpredictable Uranus on the morning of August 18, conversations could veer into explosive territory and shocking news announcements could throw the world into chaos. However, a sun-Mercury cazimi arrives by evening, which could bring illuminating epiphanies and revelations to the surface.
Just when you think this retrograde will never come to an end, Mercury will finally station direct on August 28 at 5:14 p.m. ET, landing at 21 degrees of Leo.
