Overall, the meteor shower is active from July 17 through August 24, 2026. 2026 is an Ideal Year Viewing conditions for the 2026 peak are expected to be the best in a decade due to a New Moon on August 12. Because the moon will be 0% full, the skies will be perfectly dark, allowing stargazers to see anywhere from 50 to 100 meteors per hour under clear skies. Best Viewing Times & Tips... Best Viewing Times & Tips * The Prime Window: The absolute best time to watch is between midnight and dawn on August 13, with peak activity often clustering between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM local time. * Where to Look: Face toward the east-northeast horizon. Look for the distinctive "W" shape of the Cassiopeia constellation; the Perseid radiant point sits right below it near the constellation Perseus. * Optimize Your View: Try to look slightly to the side of the constellation rather than directly at it to catch the longest meteor tails.
