We don’t have any big cosmic homework; we don’t have to ponder big life questions; we don’t even have to make a vision board. Instead, we can simply allow ourselves to be in the joy of life. The Sabian Symbol for the Gemini New Moon There is an image associated with each degree of the zodiac, known as the Sabian Symbols. These images were channeled by psychic medium, Elsie Wheeler. For this New Moon, it is interesting to note the Sabian symbol is: “Children skating over a frozen village pond.” This image evokes playfulness and fun and speaks to our ability to find joy even in environments that feel harsh or cold. We don’t always have to wait for life to feel easy before we allow ourselves to enjoy it. How can you make the most of your current situation? How can you find more lightness, more joy, and a greater focus on the blessings already around you? The Gemini New Moon reminds us that life is not only something to be worked through or figured out, but also something to be experienced and enjoyed. Even when challenges are present in the background, there is still space for curiosity, lightness, and play. We can use this New Moon energy to step out of heaviness and into perspective. It invites us to take things a little less personally and a little less seriously, and instead become curious about what else is possible. Whatever is given enables us to continue meeting to enjoy the comfort, love, and support of our Summerland family. ------------------------------------- US Postal Service Issues Stamp Featuring Origami Crane to Convey Message of Peace On May 27 the United States Postal Service began issuing an "International Peace Stamp" modeled on Japan's origami crane. With a face value of 78 cents, the new stamp can be used to send a letter or postcard within the United States. The USPS stressed the stamp's significance, saying it will allow people to send and receive a message of peace -- something that everyone hopes for.  It was created to coincide with the 2026 Boston World Exposition, an international stamp exhibition. In a statement, the USPS said, "The peace crane has become a universal symbol. You don't need to speak Japanese to fold one. You don't need to share the same religion, nationality or history." The stamp design shows a white crane taking flight against a blue sky, and the statement also stressed, "A flat, ordinary piece of paper becomes something that appears ready to take flight. That is not just origami, it is a metaphor for what human beings can do when we choose creation over destruction, connection over division, and hope over despair." In its announcement, the USPS also explained that the origins of the origami crane as a symbol of peace began with Sadako Sasaki, a Japanese girl who was exposed to the atomic bombing in Hiroshima in 1945 and continued folding cranes until her death at age 12.
