Several communities on Long Island have memorial plaques and statues. Here is one of them, at Hecksher Park in Huntington. 38 weathered steel columns line a walkway to a small collection pool from water trickling down the pathway edges. Rising from the pool is a clear miniature Plexiglas replica of the twin towers. Infinite Intelligence, may you continue to comfort those still grieving. Bless those who passed; bless those who gave their lives in selfless service. On this solemn anniversary, rekindle our hope for worldwide peace. Renew our compassion and love for all who exist on this planet. Artist: Ken Hudes. Thursday September 10 New Moon in Virgo 11:27 PM EDT The New Moon occurs as the Moon aligns with the Sun in the sign of Virgo. It is the quietest, most practical lunation of the year, and after August’s dramatic eclipses it is exactly the reset the sky owes us. Where eclipse lunations are wild cards, a Virgo new moon is a gardener. It favours the deliberate: habits begun now, systems built now, and health commitments made now tend to still be standing at the end of the year. It is, simply, the best fresh-start date in Virgo Season 2026. Timing matters with new moons: the seed-planting window runs from the exact lunation through the following 48 hours, while the Moon is still dark and barely waxing. For this one, that means the sweet spot is September 10 evening through September 13. Avoid launching in the day before the new moon — the balsamic dark of September 9–10 is for finishing and releasing, not beginning. Write the intentions, then act on the first small step within the window; a new moon intention with a deed attached is worth ten kept only in a journal.
