Prime Time for the Perseids
The Perseid meteor shower occurs every year from about July 23 to August 22, but reach their peak from late midnight August 11 to dawn August 13. The shower’s “maximum”—when the greatest number of meteors per hour fall (50 per hour)—is typically in the pre-dawn hours (when it’s still dark) of August 11, 12, or 13. It does not matter where you live in the world! Just look up! And the best news? In 2021, the Moon phases work out perfectly for dark skies! There won’t be any moonlight to ruin the Perseids’ show.
The Perseid shower is named for the constellation Perseus, which is its radiant. A radiant is the point of origin of the meteor shower, so the Perseid meteors will appear to be traveling away from the constellation Perseus in the night sky. Locating Perseus might therefore help you to see as many meteors as possible. Tuesday August 17 @ 7:30 PM In-Person* Mediumship Development Meetup This mediumship group is open to both SCOL members and non-members. These classes are to help you build your intuitive and mediumistic abilities. Beginners are welcome! *Now on Tuesday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, there is an in-person Mediumship Development class at UUFSB in East Setauket. If you plan to come, please first let Frank know by emailing our church by Monday night if possible. Attendees should arrive by 7:20 pm so we can start promptly at 7:30 pm. As with the Thursday night Mediumship Development Meetup, the cost for attending is $10, or $6.00 if you cannot afford $10.00. ••• ON TUESDAY: WORKING WITH REV. NOHAVEC'S MEDIUMSHIP CARDS •••
For the Mediumship Development in-person class on Tuesday, August 17, we will be working with exercises inspired by the Rev. Janet Nohavec’s mediumship cards, which have been recently published. The cards offer suggestions for exercises with the “clair” senses, including a new clair sense Janet has suggested: clairheartsense (sensing from the heart). We will start off the class with some hands-on healing (or distant healing if you are uncomfortable with giving hands-on healing). Come join us for this in-person experience.
